Coastal Footpath Update – Marine Bulk Import Facility Works (MBIF)

Thank you for your patience while the coastal footpath was closed on weekdays during February and March. This closure was needed to safely carry out construction work on the Marine Bulk Import Facility (MBIF).

We’re pleased to confirm that the footpath re‑opened as planned on 1 April 2026.

What’s happening next?

Further construction work is needed to complete the MBIF structure from 7th April until the end of May. To keep everyone safe while this work is completed:

  • Marshals will be in place to guide people safely under the structure when passing through the work area.
  • We will be working Monday to Friday (with occasional weekend works), to complete the remaining work as quickly as possible and reduce overall disruption.

We appreciate your understanding while these essential works are finished and thank you for your continued patience.

The MBIF will extend approximately 500 metres from the Main Construction Site into the North Sea, supporting our strategy to deliver 60% of construction materials by rail and sea.
