This is the area of the Green Rail Route.
We will be delivering 60% of construction materials by rail or sea – and in early in 2025 we will make our first rail movements to build the Green Rail Route.
In the early years of the project the existing Sizewell Branch Line will be utilised for daytime deliveries to the Ancillary Construction Area. Once the Green Rail Route to the Temporary Construction Area is completed, the new line will be used for night-time deliveries.
We are creating a new rail route that runs from the existing Sizewell Branch Line in to our Temporary Construction Area (TCA). The East Suffolk Line and Sizewell Branch Line are also key for us to deliver materials to our Ancillary Construction Area (ACA).
Work on the Green Rail Route, which will bypass Leiston, has begun and we are carrying out surveys and enabling works, while Network Rail are delivering works to maintain the exisiting lines.
We have been working in Buckleswood Road in Leiston, where we have created a rail works compound in support of improvements to the existing Sizewell Branch Line, level crossings, signalling and the construction of the new route.
