Leiston-cum-Sizewell
In April, during routine surveys, we discovered a nest of marsh harriers in the Sizewell Marshes SSSI. This was the first time in 25 years of surveys that a nest had been seen in the SSSI. A further nest was discovered at Sizewell C’s 67-hectare habitat creation site in Leiston, Aldhurst Farm. Sizewell C has put in place a protocol to ensure that any preparatory works associated with the project do not disturb the nests, and we demonstrate this by undertaking regular surveys of the nests.
