Fen meadow habitat creation

While our plans for the Sizewell C project would result in the loss of just under half a hectare of fen meadow from the Sizewell Marshes SSI, we are proposing to deliver substantially larger areas of compensatory habitat at off-site locations in Benhall, Pakenham, and Halesworth.

These surveys are intended to help us to understand whether otters are present at the three sites. Should an otter holt be identified that would be directly impacted by the proposed works, a licence from Natural England would need to be obtained, and steps to minimise the impacts of the works would need to be put in place.
