There are a number of upcoming temporary closures on Buckleswood Road and on sections of B1119 Saxmundham Road, Saxmundham Road and Buckleswood Lane in the vicinity of the Saxmundham Road level crossing.
The works at Saxmundham Road level crossing will enable further drainage surveys and tree felling to take place ahead of our work to upgrade the railway track and level crossing, whilst the works at Buckleswood Road will allow the installation of the temporary plant crossing in support of the delivery of the Green Rail Route.
We have consulted with Suffolk County Council to agree the proposed traffic management measures and have sought to keep roads open as much as possible to minimise disruption to the community. The works have been co-ordinated with the wider traffic management planned in the area for the project, and have taken into consideration the work on Abbey Road, and Abbey Lane, which is why elements of the work are being undertaken after the completion of the current utility works on Abbey Road.
We previously advised of a closure on the level crossing between 19 May and 22 May. Those works are now proposed to be undertaken between 2 June to 5 June. The postponement has occurred due to the extension of the Essex and Suffolk Water nightworks on Abbey Road, and as a result the desire from all parties to avoid closures on both the B1122 and B1119 at the same time.

Abbey Lane Temporary Diversion Route (2 June to 5 June)
Abbey Lane is currently closed with a diversion in place via Saxmundham Road level crossing. However, during the period where works are occurring at Saxmundham Road level crossing (2 June to 5 June) the Abbey Lane diversion route will be temporarily altered. Following discussions with Suffolk County Council, the Abbey Lane diversion route will be altered to Harrow Lane, Pretty Road and B1122 during this short period. It will then revert back to the agreed diversion route via Saxmundham Road level crossing, when the works on this crossing are complete.
