Green Rail Route

Activity: Road Closures

Start date: 18th February 2025

End date: 27th February 2025

Temporary night-time closures of the Saxmundham Road level crossing and sections of the B1119 Saxmundham Road and Buckleswood Lane, will enable a drainage survey and ground investigation works to take place ahead of our work to upgrade the railway track and level crossing.

We have consulted with Suffolk County Council to agree the proposed traffic management measures and have sought to keep roads open as much as possible to minimise disruption to the community. We would like to reassure you that the works have been co-ordinated with the wider traffic management planned in the area for the project.

Date: 18 – 27 February 2025

Time: 10pm – 6am

Diversion: There will be diversion routes in place and access to property will be maintained during these temporary closures. Multiple diversion routes are available  to the north and south of the crossing.

Abbey Lane Temporary Diversion Route (18 to 27 February)
Abbey Lane is currently closed with a diversion in place via Saxmundham Road level crossing. However, when nightime works take place at Saxmundham Road level crossing, between the hours of 10pm – 6am from 18 to 27 February, the Abbey Lane diversion route will be temporarily altered. At all other times, Saxmundham Road level crossing will be open to traffic.

Following discussions with Suffolk County Council, the Abbey Lane diversion route will be altered to Harrow Lane, Hawthorn Road, Pretty Road, B1122 during this short period. It will then revert back to the agreed diversion route via Saxmundham Road level crossing, when the works on this crossing are complete.
