From 23 August 2024, Sizewell C will be conducting further marine works at Sizewell: Two jack-up barges will be taking samples from below the seabed to aid the design and working methods of the shafts that connect to the inlet and outlet tunnels to the new power station and nearshore jetties to support construction activities. The samples will be extracted by drilling boreholes into the seabed.
One barge, known as Excalibur, will be approximately 3km out to sea. The second barge, Aran 250, will be nearer to shore at approximately 400m.
These barges will be at various locations conducting their works and are expected to be at sea until the end of November 2024.
