Main Development Site

The objective of these non-intrusive magnetometer surveys, is to detect unexploded ordnance (UXO) around the Main Development Site (MDS).

The area of the MDS is considered to be a “moderate” risk in relation to UXOs, as while during the Second World War it was not directly subjected to bomb attacks, air raid bombing incidents were reported in several places around Leiston and Sizewell.

Should a UXO be identified during the surveys, a full assessment would be completed that considered the exact UXO specifications and location to minimise any risks.
