Leiston-cum-Sizewell
As part of preparatory works for the MBIF, further investigative activity will take place on the beach and foreshore over three days: 23rd, 24th, and 25th September. The works will involve the use of a mechanical digger, drilling rig and divers to excavate two holes and probe 4 points on the beach and down to the low water marks, each excavation will measure approximately 2 metres deep by 12 metres wide.
These works follow similar activity carried out earlier in the year and have been agreed in consultation with the Public Rights of Way Officer and the Environment Agency. To ensure public safety, barriers will be installed 50 metres either side of the work area. Public access along the beach will be maintained. There may be brief occasions where we need to pause access for safety reasons.
All excavated holes will be backfilled overnight to restore the beach and minimise disruption.
