Starting at the end of November 2025, works will begin to construct the pipe systems required to import seawater and return treated water. These pipes will be installed beneath the seabed and will extend approximately 500 metres offshore from the Sizewell C site.
To install the pipes, horizontal directional drilling will take place from within the construction area. This work will operate continuously, 24 hours a day. There will be no impact on access to the beach as a result of these works.
There will also be vessels operating within the harbour area to support construction of the intake and outfall tunnel heads. Details of vessel movements will be published in the Notice to Mariners section by the Harbour Authority.
These works are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
