Leiston-cum-Sizewell, Theberton and Eastbridge
Moat Road and George Road will be closed from 26 May 2026 to 7 August 2026 to enable the construction of the Sizewell Link Road.
The diversion route for Moat Road will be Hawthorn Road, Pretty Road and B1122 Leiston Road. The diversion route for George Road will be Abbey Lane, Harrow Lane, Hawthorn Road, Pretty Road and B1122 Leiston Road. These diversion routes may change partway through the closure, and this will be communicated with updated signage and here on the works tracker.

Access to property will be maintained during the closure. A footpath will be maintained providing a pedestrian route between George Road and Theberton.
Following completion of the works, the road will be re-opened with a new alignment, indicated in yellow on the plan below:
The existing section of Moat Road between the B1122 Leiston Road and the Moat Road/George Road junction will be permanently closed to all motorised vehicles.
