Leiston-cum-Sizewell
Starting at the end of November 2025, works will begin to construct the pipe systems required to import seawater and export treated water. These pipes will be installed beneath the seabed and will extend approximately 500 meters offshore from SZC.
To complete this installation, drilling will take place from within the construction area using horizontal directional drilling. This operation will run 24 hours a day. There will be no impact on the access to the beach as a result of these works.
There will be vessels in the harbour area to aid the construction of the import and export tunnel heads. Vessel movements will be announced in the notice to mariners section in the Harbour Authority section
The works are expected to be completed by July 2026.
